Sleeping Disorders

One of the most common types of sleep disorders is Insomnia. This is described as an inability to sleep or a person who has the inability to stay asleep once they get there. Their main complaint is that they are unable to switch off your mind because it is always thinking. Insomnia is said to be caused by stress, anxiety, medications, herbs and caffeine. There are some mental factors as well; an overactive mind can be a cause of insomnia. Stress and anxiety are causes of insomnia as well.

Another sleep condition is called Narcolepsy, this sleep disorder differs from Insomnia because Insomniacs can’t sleep and people who suffer from Narcolepsy can and will fall asleep anywhere. Daytime naps as they call it can cause a narcoleptic to fall asleep anywhere from standing up or even when driving. The narcolepsy suffer can also suffer from long term Disorders such as Sleep Paralysis, Hallucinations and Cataplexy. These can cause problems in the sufferer’s everyday life, socially and mentally.

There are some other well-known sleep disorders that are affected by millions of people. Some of them are Bruxism, Hypopnea syndrome, Parasomnias, Night Terrors, Rapid Eye Movement Behavior Disorders and Restless Leg Syndrome. Sleep Walking and Jet lag may cause sleep problems. Sleep problems are not something to take lightly, if you suffer from a sleep disorder that makes you either sleep too much or not enough. Talk to your doctor and he can prescribe something to help you.
